Children Matters - Costs

If you wish to apply to the Court or simply seek advice in respect of contact with a child, where a child lives or any other application relating to a child then we may be able to offer a fixed fee package to deal with your case.

Package A

This includes writing to you with a client care letter, writing to you with a detailed letter of advice, writing to your ex-partner with a proposed agreement, advising you on any response. Fixed fee is £175.

Package B

This includes as Package A above but also  writing to your ex partner to propose mediation, referring your matter to the mediation service, up to one hour of advice following conclusion of mediation, writing to you confirming the outcome of mediation with advice as to how to progress your matter or to conclude your case.  The fixed fee for this package is £300.

Package C

If mediation has not worked and/or your ex partner has not responded to your proposals or has responded in an unreasonable way then this Package follows on from Package A and B.  This includes taking your detailed further instructions, preparation of the application to Court and submitting the same to Court after it has been approved by you, issuing the application at Court and serving the papers on your ex partner, attending with you at Court at the first appointment and providing you with advice and representation at that hearing, including negotiating with your ex partner, discussing matters with CAFCASS and representing you before the Court, writing to you following the Court hearing with confirmation of the outcome.  The fixed fee for this package is £1500.

Package D

If an agreement has not been reached at the first appointment then this package follows on from package C.  This includes taking your further detailed instructions, preparation of documents following directions from the first hearing, this may include statements, perusing any CAFCASS report that is ordered and advising you on the same, corresponding with you regarding the progress of your case, representing you at one further review or directions hearing, writing to you following the court hearing with confirmation of the outcome.  The fixed fee for this package is £1500

Please note only one review or directions hearing is included in the fixed fee for package D.  If you need representation at any further hearings then a further additional bolt on payment will be charged for each additional hearing.  We will agreed a fixed fee for this with you beforehand.

In some cases it may be appropriate to instruct a barrister at this stage of your case. They will charge an additional fixed fee. This will be discussed with you beforehand.

Package E

If an agreement has not been reached at the review/directions hearing then this package follows on from package D.  This includes taking your further detailed instructions, preparation of documents following directions from the review hearing, this may include further statements, gp reports and so on, corresponding with you regarding the progress of your case, corresponding with the other side, instructing a barrister to represent you at the final hearing, including preparing instructions to the barrister and sending further documentation to the barrister, preparing documents in readiness for the final hearing for example, case summary, chronology, statement of issues and the bundle for the Court.  The fixed fee for this package is £1500.

Please note that the barrister fee is not included in the fixed fee.  A quote can be obtained for the barrister to represent you at the final hearing and also to have a conference before the court hearing.
